About Michael Pignéguy

Michael Pignéguy is a leading composer and performer who has worked extensively within the fields of jazz, orchestral and world music. He balances commissions by orchestras from around the world with his own projects which have seen him perform in the US, Italy, Australia, Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, The United Arab Emirates, Qatar and New Zealand. He also leads World Music act The Awakenings Ensemble which has performed in the US (Jazz at Lincoln Center), the Middle East, Asia and around Australia.

Michael has worked with with Michel LeGrand (France), Dominick Farinacci (USA), Gabriel Hernandez (Cuba), Ziad Rahbani (Lebanon), Asim Gorashi (Sudan), Anton Davidyansk (Russia), Richard Johnson (USA), Oleg Poyanskiy (The Ukraine), Kate Ceberano (Australia), Israel Varela (Italy), Marques Young (Malaysia), Gregory Generet (USA), The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, The Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and many other world class artists.

Michael's versatility and inventiveness can be seen clearly through the artists and has composed, arranged and performed for & with. These include artists such as Ben Folds (USA), Nayla Al Khaja (UAE), MAias Al Yamani (Syria), Matthew Rybicki (USA), Hassan Moataz (Egypt) and Trilby Temperley (Australia). Michael's orchestral arrangements have been performed by Boston Pops, Nashville, Houston, Philadelphia Chamber, Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras (US) as well as all Australian state orchestras. He is also the principal arranger and artistic director of the Jazz Meets Mozart project.

Michael has produced and co-produced numerous albums under his own name and for other artists. He continues to release music under his own name and in a variety of collaborative projects. All of his music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube Music, Bandcamp and other platforms.
